The Adventures of Charles the Well Traveled-Bear begins on the Teddy Bear planet where Charles, a little white teddy bear with a black hat and a tee-shirt with a heart on it, gets his life turned upside down. The government of the Teddy Bear planet has been studying human life on Earth, and they seek an ambassador to go to Earth and strengthen the bonds between humankind and teddy bears. Charles is that teddy bear. He is asked to leave his wife Victoria and son Goober and become the first ambassador to Earth from the Teddy Bear planet. His adventures on Earth are both funny and sad, wonderous and painful. He struggles mightily to understand and help these strange humans who in so many ways seem bent on harming themselves - and the more he works with them, the more he grows to love them. When Spikes, a teddy bear living on Earth who has begun to resolve his problems in the human way - with violence and a gang of bears he has gotten together - gains in strength and popularity, Charles has his work cut out for him.
